Senior Highways Engineer (Sydney Office)

Role

Reporting to the Director Civil & Waterways, we are looking for an outgoing, team oriented and technically experienced Senior Highways Engineer to help build and grow our highways engineering capability. This is the opportunity for the right candidate to get in and help grow this discipline in the NSW market.

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering highway and road projects with the support of other members of our transport team.

The role will involve technical engineering, project management and some business development.

Suitably experienced individuals will be provided with the opportunity to lead and manage engineering and technical staff on transport infrastructure projects.

 

Qualifications

We are seeking a qualified senior highways engineer with engineering qualifications recognised by Engineers Australia and eligible for MIEAust. Chartered status highly desirable.

 

Experience

  1. Strong technical background in road design on state highway authority (RMS, TMR, Vicroads, MRWA etc.) type projects with broad knowledge of:

a.traffic engineering;

b.road geometrics;

c.drainage;

d.signs and line marking;

e.road safety barriers; and

f.utility service protection and relocation (desirable).

(Note: Doesn’t need to be a specialist in all of the above but needs to understand them).

  1. 10 years + experience, preferably at least 5 years of which has been in Australia.
  2. Preferably from a Tier 1 or 2 consultant or state road authority background.
  3. Good working knowledge of design standards and design management processes, RMS processes desirable, but not essential. 
  4. Previous D&C or alliance type project experience would be considered favourably.
  5. Ability to work well in a small design team or join in a larger project team.
  6. Strong written reporting skills.
  7. Ability to build relationships with client project managers.
  8. Supports tenders and business development activities.
  9. Ability to relocate to other BG&E offices for short-term secondments desirable.

Senior Road Designer – Staff or Contract (Perth, Sydney and Brisbane Offices)

Role

As a Lead Designer, manage the civil design components of projects through to delivery documentation. Manage and mentor other project team members as required. 

The applicant should have good design skills and attention to detail and checking and the ability to challenge design concepts and deliver the best possible design solutions. The ability to produce project cost estimates, design reports and other technical documents would be looked at favourably. The applicant would be expected to manage smaller projects as required and under Project Manager direction, manage the design role on significant large infrastructure projects.

BG&E has a reputation for delivering innovative and technically sound design solutions and the applicant should have the ability to build on these ideals.

Qualifications

Appropriate tertiary qualifications or relevant experience.  Eligibility for Membership of Australia Institute of Engineers would also be considered favourably.

Experience

It is expected that applicants will have:

  1. Minimum of 10 years of dedicated experience in geometric road design and transport infrastructure.
    2. Technical expertise in road engineering commensurate with undertaking high level design reviews and delivery of technical advice.
    3. Experience with MX or 12D design software at expert level with good AutoCAD skills.
    4. Extensive knowledge of Austroads and Australian standards and their application.
    5. Extensive Australian State Road Authority (RMS, QTMR, MRWA, or similar) experience with proven experience on significant and technically challenging projects

Role

Reporting to the Infrastructure Lead- Middle East, we are looking for an outgoing, team oriented and technically experienced Highways Design Engineer to help build and grow our highways engineering capability. This is the opportunity for the right candidate to get in and help grow this discipline in the Middle Eastern market.

Experienced in roads and highway design, storm water drainage design using AASHTO/ international design standards, MX, Civil 3D highway design software and recognised industry storm water design software. The successful applicant will be supported by members of our transportation team.

Suitably experienced individuals will be provided with the opportunity to work with engineering and technical staff on transport infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

We are seeking a qualified and experienced highways engineer with appropriate qualifications recognised by international institutions. Chartered status or working towards it would be highly desirable.

Candidates should be Bachelor Degree qualified in Civil Engineering and have working knowledge of AASHTO and other international standards.

Role

Reporting to the Infrastructure Lead- Middle East, we are looking for an outgoing, team oriented and technically experienced Project Manager to help build and grow our Civils and Infrastructure capability. This is the opportunity for the right candidate to get in and help grow this discipline in the Middle Eastern market.

We require an experienced Project Manager to provide expertise on multi-disciplinary Civils and Infrastructure, Highways and Transportation projects. Working in a multidisciplinary team of Engineers providing a professional design service to our clients we consider this an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic Engineers to secure significant international experience.

The applicant shall be experienced in the use and interpretation of relevant international standards, codes and contracts as well as relevant industry standard software.

An experienced individual the applicant will be required to contribute to the effective and efficient management of key projects and make a positive impact on the delivery of projects working with technical staff on our Engineering team.

Senior CAD Operator (Qatar and Dubai Offices)

Senior CAD Operator (Qatar and Dubai Offices)

Role

We seek a Senior CAD Operator to provide high quality drafting services on civil and municipal projects through each project design development stages and to guide and mentor other project CAD Operators as required.

The applicant should have good drafting skills and excellent understanding of civils, highways and infrastructure projects with an eye for detail and precision.

Working from Engineers briefings, sketches and design concepts the applicant will deliver the best possible AutoCAD design solutions and consistently produce accurate project drawings and other technical documents. The applicant would be expected to manage smaller projects as required under the direction of a Project Manager and manage the design role on small scale infrastructure projects.

The applicant should possess an appetite for creativity and innovation and have the ability to develop design drawings based on limited information including calculations, sketches and verbal descriptions.

Qualifications

Appropriate tertiary qualification such as a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant industry qualification and experience. Eligibility for professional Membership of a recognised engineering institution.

Experience

It is expected that applicants will have:

  1. Minimum of 10 years of dedicated experience in roads, transport infrastructure and land development projects of which a minimum of 5 years has been within the Middle East.
  2. Technical knowledge of road design and engineering principles together with utilities diversions and protection systems.
  3. Experience with Civil 3D, MX or 12D design software at expert level with exceptional AutoCAD skills producing high quality drafting outputs.
  4. Extensive knowledge of relevant international standards and their application and ability to comply with CAD standards & quality assurance requirements.
  5. Experienced in the analysis and manipulation of CAD data received from stakeholders and third parties and the ability to identify errors and or omissions.
  6. Proven experience on significant and technically challenging projects.
  7. Ability to work with limited supervision and the ability to supervise others in AutoCAD drafting and design.

Role

Reporting to the Infrastructure Lead- Middle East, we are looking for an outgoing, team oriented and technically experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to help build and grow our Civils and Infrastructure capability. This is the opportunity for the right candidate to get in and help grow this discipline in the Middle Eastern market.

This position will be responsible for managing designers on a range of land development projects including site and sub-division planning and design, municipal roads, residential developments, storm water management, TSE and irrigation.

The applicant shall be experienced in the use and interpretation of AASHTO and other relevant international standards as well as relevant industry standard software.

An experienced individual the applicant will be required to undertake and supervise others in the design of land development projects delivering contract and construction management with the support of other members of our Engineering team.

The role will involve technical engineering, project management and some business development.

Suitably experienced individuals will be provided with the opportunity to lead and manage engineering and technical staff on civils, infrastructure and land development projects.

Qualifications

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with appropriate qualifications recognised by international institutions. Chartered status or working towards it would be highly desirable.

Candidates should be Bachelor Degree qualified in Civil Engineering and have working knowledge of AASHTO and other relevant international standards and alternative forms of contract.

Preference will be given to those possessing a Master of Science Degree in a relevant discipline.
