BG&E provided structural and civil engineering services for this project which included a new 2-storey ‘Collection & Research Centre’ (CRC) positioned immediately adjacent to an existing administrative building. The new CRC building comprises a steel-framed portion with insulated cladding panels to house the valuable collection specimens, and a concrete framed portion with precast wall panels to house the research labs, administrative and plant areas.
The new CRC building is accompanied by a new access road and carpark, and separate outbuildings, electrical services, generator and ethanol storage. Existing buildings occupying the site were subject to refurbishment for adaptive re-use and installation of new services.
