171 Collins Street is a premium grade office building located in Melbourne’s CBD. The project was developed by joint venture partners Cbus Property and Charter Hall REIT. The façade includes a unique glass configuration, in the typical façade developed for the project after extensive research and prototyping. Additional elements include CNC routed glass units, bespoke atrium glazing and a glazed atrium roof. The project was constructed by Brookfield Multiplex and completed in April 2013, having been successfully leased to BHP as their new global headquarters.
The project achieves a 6 star Green Star rating and 5 star NABERS, by combining extremely high performance glass, a thermally improved curtain wall system, and innovative building services strategies by the mechanical services consultant. BG&E Façades were engaged as façade consultant from schematic design stage through to construction.
