WEST SIDE PLACE, MELBOURNE, VICTORIA
Developer: Far East Consortium
Architect: Cottee Parker Architects
West Side Place is located at 250 Spencer Street in Melbourne and is a $1 billion development by Far East Consortium. It includes four towers, ranging from 63 to 85 storeys. At 270m, Tower 1 will be the second tallest building in Melbourne and will house the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the top 15 levels above a grand sky lobby. The remainder of the tower consists of high-end residential apartments. All up the four towers will incorporate 2,853 apartments. The towers are joined by a 10-storey common podium building with residents’ car parks, hotel facilities and retail.
The façade is characterised by its tessellated articulation and consists of a complex unitized curtain wall with sloped and folded panel types. BG&E were engaged by Far East Consortium as façade consultants from early architectural concept development through design development and construction phases of the project.
