Derek has 20 years’ experience as a design manager and structural engineer across a wide range of project types and sizes throughout Australia, Canada and the Middle East.
Since joining BG&E, Derek has taken key lead roles in a number of transport infrastructure, institutional, retail and health projects including the Perth Stadium Station, Perth Busport, Midland and Fiona Stanley Hospitals, and numerous university campus buildings. Derek’s passion for engineering has been proven time and again, consistently delivering high-quality projects in high-pressure environments.
Derek relocated to Melbourne in 2015 to take up the role as Director of Victoria with a focus on growing market presence across all our core disciplines. Derek’s strong leadership and communication skills have seen high levels of office growth and a strong portfolio of projects both in the building and transport infrastructure space.
Oliver has been involved in the construction industry for the last 22 years. During the last 20 years Oliver has focused and specialised in the facades industry. He has been directly involved in various roles such as project management, design and construction of point fixed glass wall, unitized and stick curtain wall and bespoke façade systems. He has been involved in various building types providing advice from system design up to completion. He has consulted to many architects and developers such as Norman Foster, Grimshaw, David Marks, Cesar Pelli, RTKL and WATG. His key strength is in the coordination and management of varied and complex issues in commercial, educational, health and residential projects in Australia and overseas.
In his role as Director/Practice Manager Oliver has been in charge of major projects that require delivery within budget, time and cost restraints. Being hands on, he is actively involved in the design, fabrication and installation process. Oliver has an insight into ideas and technologies that are current internationally and has presented at several global conferences such as GPD in Finland.
Oliver is a company Director and Practice manager whose emphasis is in bringing together the best team with the skills and expertise required for each individual project, being the design, fabrication and installation of unitized curtain walls, stick walls, high performance doors and windows and aluminium cladding.
Transport Lead – VICTORIA
Soumendra is a Civil Engineer with 18 years of overseas and Australian experience in planning and feasibility studies, concept and detailed design of Motorways, Highway and Expressways, innovative Interchange designs, managed freeways, Urban and Rural roads, and roundabouts and at grade intersections, safe system solutions, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT) systems, precinct developments, internal roads and township roads. His experience spectrum covers aerodrome design, geometric, drainage design and review of runway, taxiway, helipad, apron and strips in accordance with Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex-14 standards. He has been actively involved in Projects with VicRoads, DPTI (SA), MRWA, PTA, Brookfield Rail, PAPL, State and Local Government authorities.
Soumendra’s key strength is to provide technically sound, innovative and cost effective engineering solutions, technical advice for tender bids, project delivery, traffic Engineering and design management, business development and maintaining strong relations with client and co-workers. He has excellent skills in team building, mentoring and guiding young professionals.
Soumendra has moved to Melbourne to lead and grow BG&E’s Transportation team and business in Victoria.
Buildings Lead – VICTORIA
Tom has over 30 years extensive structural engineering experience working on a wide range of building projects. He also had a prominent role in the establishment and growth of the BG&E Melbourne office
Tom is an enthusiastic “hands on engineer” capable of preparing and developing structural schemes for major buildings and then leading the structural engineering services for each phase of a project through to construction
