720 Bourke Street is the new headquarters building for Medibank in Melbourne’s Docklands precinct. The project was developed by Cbus Property after a limited competition at RFP stage. The façade incorporates a continuous horizontal ribbon feature which accommodates local areas of planter boxes using unitised curtain wall components. The planter boxes are fully integrated into the curtain wall system, including local irrigation systems and mesh for climbing plant species. The project is a 6 star Green Star (v3) and 5 star NABERS rating.

A project-specific façade performance test was carried out in Southern China which was specified and attended by BG&E Façades. In addition to the typical unitised curtain wall system, there are a number of multi-level spaces and balconies which incorporate steel mullion stick and cassette systems. BG&E Façades were engaged as façade consultant from schematic design stage through to construction.
