Alex Adriano is an experienced structural engineer and Team Lead at BG&E, with over 15 years of expertise across New Zealand and internationally. He specialises in seismic assessment, structural design, and strengthening, delivering high-quality, practical solutions that exceed client expectations.

Alex Adriano has over 15 years of experience in structural engineering, working across New Zealand and internationally. Since moving to New Zealand in 2013, he has led a wide range of projects, including seismic assessments, structural strengthening, new builds, and peer reviews. Alex brings strong technical leadership, clear communication, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes that align with client goals and project timelines.

Alex led the seismic assessment and structural upgrade of the Sheraton Four Points Hotel project in the Auckland’s CBD, converting a 20-storey office tower into a modern hotel and adding two new levels above the existing structure. He delivered a technically robust solution that met current seismic standards while navigating the complexities of adaptive reuse in a dense urban environment. His approach ensured structural resilience, constructability with minimal disruption to the surrounding cityscape during construction.

Alex holds a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science from Nova University of Lisbon in Portugal.

BIO

Domenico joined BG&E in 2021 as an Associate structural engineer leading the Christchurch office expansion. Domenico’s strength lies in seismic engineering and client liaison, delivering innovative, high-performance solutions while always striving to exceed client expectations.

Before joining BG&E, Domenico built a strong engineering career both in New Zealand and Italy. After starting as a structural engineer in Italy in 2009, he relocated to New Zealand in 2014. During this time, he has gained significant experience ranging from seismic assessment and complex strengthening including heritage unreinforced masonry buildings, to the design of industrial warehouses, mining infrastructure, and the delivery of commercial, educational and high-end residential projects across the country and internationally.

Domenico has led the design of complex structures including Christchurch’s Te Kaha Stadium roof temporary work structures and relative towers sliding methodology, large Lithium refining towers in Western Australia, The Pump House strengthening, a complex of heritage unreinforced masonry buildings and the design of the low damage façade support structure for the New Court Theatre in Christchurch. His leadership ensured high-quality outcomes through strong stakeholder engagement, commitment to performance, compliance, and a natural curiosity for innovation.

EDUCATION

Domenico holds a Master’s degree in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) from the University of Catania in Italy. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) (NZ and Italy), a Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand (CMEngNZ), an International Professional Engineer (IntPE NZ), APEC Engineer, as well as supporting Engineering NZ as a CPEng practice area assessor, demonstrating his strong commitment to professional excellence and international engineering standards.

Hayden Duffy is a highly experienced structural engineer and BG&E’s New Zealand Manager, leading the delivery of complex projects across sectors including residential, commercial, and infrastructure. With a hands-on leadership style and strong technical expertise, he’s committed to driving efficient, practical solutions that meet client goals and exceed expectations.

Hayden began his career in Auckland working on industrial, retail, and commercial projects before joining BG&E in Qatar, where he spent over four years delivering large-scale developments across the Middle East from Indoor Snow Parks attached to Malls to Solar Facilities in the desert. In 2019, he returned to New Zealand to start BG&E’s local operations, managing a wide range of structural, façade and construction engineering projects while growing an awesome team.

One of Hayden’s key project highlights includes leading the structural design for a multi-storey mixed-use development in Auckland, where he acted as the principal structural consultant. The project involved complex coordination across residential, retail, and commercial spaces, requiring innovative structural solutions and close collaboration with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver on time and to a high standard.

EDUCATION

Hayden holds a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, both from the University of Canterbury, combining technical engineering expertise with a strong foundation in financial principles. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and a Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand (CMEngNZ).

Kieran combines deep technical expertise with a passion for collaborative design, delivering outstanding structural solutions across diverse projects from multi-storey office buildings to educational facilities, both in New Zealand and internationally.

Kieran Woods has built a strong career in structural engineering, with experience spanning New Zealand, the UK, Australia, and the UAE. He has managed and designed a wide variety of building structures, including office buildings, apartment towers, aged care facilities, and educational buildings. Specialising in post-tensioned concrete design, Kieran brings a unique depth of expertise to his projects, contributing to complex, high-performance structures across multiple regions.

One standout project involved the design of a large-scale post-tensioned concrete structure in the UAE, where Kieran successfully applied innovative techniques to meet the region’s unique engineering challenges. His work continues to be defined by technical excellence and a collaborative, client-focused approach.

Kieran Woods holds a BE(Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Auckland, a BE (Credit) in Surveying from the University of Otago, and is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), CMEngNZ, and ENZ member.

Vince is a Senior Façade Engineer, leading the Facades team with a strong focus on achieving technical excellence and delivering high performing façade solutions.

Vince Ngo has built a diverse career in façade engineering, working on a wide range of new builds and remedial projects across residential and commercial sectors. With experience throughout New Zealand, he brings a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of façade design & compliance.

Vince is leading the façade design for a prominent residential development in Auckland, which combines the remediation of existing structures with new apartment construction. His role focuses on delivering a modern, high-performance façade that balances aesthetics, thermal efficiency, and long-term durability, while integrating seamlessly with the surrounding heritage context.

Vince holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the National University of Singapore.
