Pluto Liquified Natural Gas Flare Stack
The Pluto Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Project processes gas from the Pluto and neighbouring Xena gas fields, and is located 190 kilometres north-west of Karratha, in the Northern Carnarvon Basin, in Western Australia.
Australian-based oil and gas leader, Woodside Energy (Woodside) have taken Pluto from discovery in 2005 through to production and processing, demonstrating their world-class LNG capabilities.
The location of the project is renowned for cyclonic weather and as a result, Woodside commissioned the flare stack to be modified at their $13 billion Pluto LNG Project.
The A and B flare towers were originally constructed from steel tube lattice towers and carried gas by-products for burning off.
BG&E provided structural engineering services, including assessing the existing flare stack and designing replacement towers that were detailed for strength and durability. Our talented team deployed a collaborative approach between the designers, detailers, fabricators and erectors, to ensure the project was delivered on time.
