Gorgon Liquefied Natural Gas Project Accommodation Village

Resources

Located on Barrow Island, the Gorgon Liquefied Natural Gas Project Accommodation Village (LNG) Project is one of the world’s largest and the largest single resource project in Australia’s history. The three-train, 15.6 million-tonne per annum LNG facility and the related domestic gas plant supplies 300 terajoules of gas per day to Western Australia (WA).

BG&E provided structural engineering services, including the foundation design and structural tie-downs for the accommodation village, which accommodated up to 4,000 personnel on Barrow Island. The Island is a Class A nature reserve and situated in a severe tropical cyclone region, therefore the village was designed to endure wind speeds of up to 315 kilometres per hour.

The Gorgon LNG Project will remain an important pillar of the Australian economy for decades to come as it continues to meet global demand for cleaner-burning fuel.
