A 40-storey skyscraper with a 280-room boutique hotel inclusive of amenities and retail space, stacked on top of 24,400 square metres of A Grade office space, has been approved for 600 Lonsdale Street in the west end of Melbourne’s central business district (CBD). The $500 million skyscraper will boast biophilic design across the balconies to create green ‘laneway-like’ outdoor spaces.

BG&E is providing the complete facade scope of works, including facade design and engineering the landmark tower, which employs a skin of terracotta shading elements to reduce solar radiation and embodied carbon, while contributing to the heritage aesthetic of the precinct.

The 600 Lonsdale Street development provides a new model for office design, while boosting the rejuvenation of the west end of Melbourne’s CBD. The mixed-use tower will be enjoyed by residents and visitors to the area both during the week and over the weekends.
