Revitalising Cities Across Australia

Rick Kreeck

Victoria/South Australia Lead
BG&E
The economic toll of the pandemic hit Victoria hard but despite the challenges, the State is bouncing back with robust reactivation efforts. The City of Melbourne and Victorian State Government have established a $300 million-joint fund to revitalise the capital and get Melbournians back on track to fulfil their aspiration of being one of the nation’s fastest-growing economies.

BG&E is well positioned to help clients contribute to the city’s revitalisation and we are pleased Rick Kreeck, will lead the charge. Rick is the newly appointed Victoria/South Australia (VIC/SA) Lead at BG&E and is tasked with creating opportunities to undertake design roles on major projects for clients in the Transport and Infrastructure, Property, Ports and Marine, Water, Defence, Renewables and Resources sectors. He is a Director on the Board of BG&E and of the Facades’ and New Zealand businesses, as well as chairs the Safety, Quality & Risk Committee and COVID Committee. Rick previously chaired the Diversity, Equality & Inclusion (DE&I) Committee, led BG&E’s Reconciliation Action Plan and served on the Steering Committee for the Sydney Metro West project. He also led BG&E’s Materials business and played a key role on many major projects, including the Pacific Highway upgrade, Roy Hill, Ichthys, Sydney Opera House VAPS, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, The Opus and Wembley Stadium, and he provides Expert Witness services when required.

We also celebrate another key leadership appointment today, as Derek Heiden, former VIC/SA Lead assumes the role of Director. After spending a decade with BG&E in Perth, Derek relocated to Melbourne and established BG&E’s Victorian business, he led the growth of the team to a size that can deliver building and infrastructure projects of significant scale, including Melbourne Metro. Derek is excited about relocating back to Perth, to help grow BG&E’s ever-expanding business in the West and the South East Asian business. He is also eager to make significant contributions to company’s key commercial, risk and due diligence initiatives and to mentoring colleagues to implement the business strategy. Derek is a member of BG&E’s Finance & Audit, and DE&I Committees, and the Risk Management Group. He is a also Chartered Member of the Institute of Engineers Australia and a Registered Professional Engineer in Victoria.

In VIC, our talented team have a successful track record of delivering iconic projects for Major Roads Projects Victoria, Cross Yarra Partnership, Spark Consortia, CPB Contractors, John Holland, Laing O’Rourke, Grimshaw and Cotter Parker Architects, to name a few.
