The Al Bayt Stadium takes its name from ‘bayt al sha’ar’, meaning tents historically used by nomadic peoples in Qatar and the Gulf region.

Located in Al Khor City, approximately 40 kilometres north of Doha, the Al Bayt Stadium will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup (World Cup) semi-finals and is one of the five stadiums built in Qatar, in preparation for the World Cup.

The design mimics a traditional Bedouin tent, including a black canvas-like facade with strongly contrasting white stripes. The inside stadium décor also resembles traditional tents, with vibrant red hues.

BG&E Facade Consultants provided facade engineering services and building envelope input for the schematic and detailed design stages of the project.

The stadium is a first-class sustainable sporting venue in the Middle East.
