The Amrun Mine extracts bauxite and is located south of Weipa, in Far North Queensland’s remote Gulf Country region.

BG&E provided structural engineering services, in particular, the structural design associated with the mine site, as well as integrated and coordinated the design input for the architectural, mechanical, electrical and hydraulics services and the fuel systems.

The mine infrastructure area project included:

• a heavy mine equipment (HME) workshop and warehouse;
• a tyre-change facility;
• body wash and maintenance wash facilities;
• HME and light vehicle re-fueling facilities; and
• an emergency centre and administrative amenities.

The Amrun bauxite mine operations are conducted in accordance with the Traditional Owners requirements, to ensure that the benefits generated from mining support future generations and that cultural heritage sites are preserved.
