Boddington Gold Mine

Owned by mining leader, Newmont, the Boddington Gold Mine is Australia’s largest open cut gold mine (it also produces copper) and is located in the Saddleback greenstone belt region, in Western Australia. The annual gold production is 703,000 attributable ounces and their annual copper production is 35,000 attributable tonnes.

Under a design and construct contract, BG&E provided structural engineering services, specifically the design and documentation of piles and pile caps for new conveyor trestles, as part of an upgrade and expansion of the mine.

The analysis of the pile groups involved compliance with strict deflection and rotational limits imposed by the conveyor operations.
