The Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation (HCCDC) is leading a multi-agency government initiative to Revitalising Newcastle. Specifically, the HCCDC is working in partnership with Transport for New South Wales (NSW), industry, and local residents and businesses, to reinvigorate the city centre.

The busy Newcastle Station is included in the above programme of works, specifically, Stage 2 Building and Landscape Design.

BG&E conducted structural condition assessments and provided engineering advice about the existing masonry structures.
