Pacific Motorway – Pimpama Interchange Exit 49 Upgrade

Bridges
Roads

Rapid residential and industrial growth north of the Gold Coast has prompted the State Government to roll out a series of interchange upgrades along the Pacific Motorway (M1).

Backed by State and Federal funding, the program includes a $192.6 million upgrade of the Exit 49 interchange at Pimpama. Previously operating well over capacity, Exit 49 experienced heavy congestion and significant queuing onto the M1 during peak periods. The upgrade delivered a new overpass bridge, realigned motorway ramps, and replaced two roundabouts with signalised intersections to improve flow and safety.

The project’s core objectives were to boost capacity, improve traffic performance, reduce conflict points, enhance road safety, and provide better active transport connections for pedestrians and cyclists.
