Principal Place
Designed by leading architectural firm, Foster & Partners, the 175-metre, 50-storey mixed-use development is located in Shoreditch. It comprises 34,900 square metres of residential space (including generous one and two-bedroom apartments, and one penthouse), 20,000 square metres of prime retail and 4,500 square metres of commercial space, a fitness centre, end-of-trip facilities, 600 cycle spaces and a vibrant rooftop terrace.
BG&E provided construction engineering services, including designing the jump-form system in its various configurations throughout the height of the tower. The column construction was taken off the critical path by including them in the jump-form construction sequence. This enabled increased cycle times and a reduced construction programme.
Our technical team’s scope of work also included undertaking the independent peer review.
Principal Place has a soft curved exterior which sets it apart from the nearby city skyscrapers. It is also a sustainable development with a combined heat and power plant, roof mounted photovoltaic panels, grey water harvesting and is BREEAM Certified.
