Situated in Lusail Qatar in the Arabian Gulf, the Nozul Lusail Marina is renowned as a best practise example of how sustainability features can also translate to eye-catching aesthetic design, adding to the tapestry of the local built environment.
BG&E contributed structural design services for the striking 25-storey hotel and office tower, which is renowned for its carved features and eroded building mass.
As part of this iconic development SOM Architects created deeply shaded areas that offer sweeping views of the Gulf, while dropping the perceived temperature up to five degrees on balconies. The building’s cooling load is further reduced by its clever facade, which is sheathed with a copper screen also allowing for views.
BG&E also provided a structural scheme for the contractor, including steel and concrete options for the cantilever sections from a central core, as well as designs for the rooftop pool, five basement levels, the podium entrance, ballrooms, and restaurants, in addition to submission of tender design services.
