Perth Airport Pedestrian Skybridge
This award-winning project was delivered in October 2020 and provides a pedestrian skybridge from the Perth Airport Central Station to the international terminal forecourt.
The skybridge provides an elevated sheltered walkway across the main terminal car park to directly access the Terminal 1 and 2 forecourts and has been designed to deliver clear orientation and wayfinding, with views across the entire terminal precinct.
BG&E provided civil, structural and geotechnical engineering services for 280-metre long skybridge, which is a key component in Perth Airport’s Master Plan.
It provides flexibility for future landside development, improved passenger and visitor experiences, features visually appealing architecture and creates a sense of place within the broader the precinct.
The travellators within the skybridge help to cater for the 8,000 pedestrians that use it daily. A vertical node forms the foyer to the terminal frontage and is serviced by stairs and lifts to accommodate universal access requirements.
