Marine Lakes Event Centre
The Marine Lakes Event Centre is the largest investment project within the Southport Town Deal, with a budget of around 50 million pounds to deliver state-of-the-art cultural and entertainment facilities on Marine Lake in Liverpool, United Kingdom. The Centre will provide a 1,200-capacity auditorium, exhibition space and coworking areas, in addition to a water, light and sound attraction, transforming the area into a tourist destination with an activated waterfront.
BG&E is providing façade engineering services for AFL Architects, supporting the modern look of the new centre, which is also versatile enough to complement the heritage of the promenade and surrounding area. The original façade design was by HOK, which blends both Art Deco-inspired and modern details and is currently undergoing design RIBA Stage Two.
Specifically, BG&E services will support the façade design from the RIBA Stage Two concept phase to RIBA Stage Five construction phase. Optioneering for the façade architecture proposed by AFL Architects, and support for the latter stages of design development with drawings and specifications, will also be provided. The key objective is to push engineering boundaries while achieving a cost efficient design.
The rest of the Marine Lakes Event Centre project team includes Aecom, Sefton Council, CBRE and Gardiner and Theobald.
It is predicted that the Marine Lake Events Centre will create 288 jobs, generate footfall of over 515,000 visitors to the waterfront and boost the local hospitality sector with nearly 60,000 overnight stays from conferences and events.
